Bogliasco may be small, but it’s overflowing with charm and coastal beauty. This picturesque Ligurian village is all about sea views, colorful houses, and that laid-back Mediterranean lifestyle. From relaxing on its pebble beaches to strolling along scenic cliffside paths, it’s the perfect spot to slow down and soak it all in.

I especially loved spending the day along the rocky coastline, jumping into the refreshing water, wandering through the village, and enjoying delicious food.

1. Bogliasco Seafront

At the heart of Bogliasco lies a small bay where colorful houses surround a pebble beach, and a narrow footbridge crosses a stream into the Ligurian Sea. The seafront promenade is perfect for a peaceful walk, with benches, cafés, and views of the dramatic Riviera di Levante coastline.

2. Spiaggia Libera Beach and Maa Beach

Small sandy and pebbly beaches which are located just steps from the village center, making them easy to reach for a quick swim or a full day by the sea. The water is clean and inviting, and you’ll find convenient facilities like bars, showers, sunbeds, and a lifeguard service. It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the sun, and take in the charming coastal views.

The rocky shoreline around Bogliasco offers access to natural swimming spots, as well as walking paths that connect to neighbouring villages like Pieve Ligure and Nervi. These coastal walks are ideal for exploring hidden coves and enjoying views of the Ligurian Sea.

This is a must! It’s the spot I was talking about earlier. A beautiful rocky coastline with crystal-clear waters, nice for swimming, snorkeling, and enjoying peaceful sea views. You can stretch out on the fairly flat rocks and jump straight into the water.

Getting out through the rocks can be a little tricky but it is totally manageable since many people were in the water.

How to Get Around Bogliasco

Bogliasco is a small village best explored on foot. The narrow streets and scenic coastline are perfect for walking, allowing you to soak in the charm at your own pace.

For trips to nearby towns like Genoa or Camogli, regional trains run frequently and are the easiest way to travel. If you’re driving as we did, be prepared for limited parking and some narrow roads.

Bogliasco is best reached by train or car. It’s located on the Genoa–Pisa railway line, so you can easily catch a regional train from Genoa or other nearby cities. The train station is right in the village, making it a convenient and scenic way to get there.

Parking
Limited parking is available in the village, especially on weekends and holidays. We arrived by car and were lucky to find a spot, but the parking lot was very full.

Swimming
The rocky coastline is beautiful but can be slippery, so you might want to bring water shoes for safe entry and exit.

Siesta Time
Some smaller shops and restaurants close for a couple of hours in the afternoon, usually between 1–4 pm.

Cash
Some small vendors prefer cash, so it’s good to carry some euros with you.

The ideal time to visit Bogliasco is from late spring to early fall (May to September) when the weather is warm, the sea is perfect for swimming, and outdoor cafés and shops are fully open.

July and August are the busiest months, but even then, Bogliasco remains quieter and less touristy compared to nearby hotspots, making it a peaceful escape.

If you prefer even fewer crowds, consider visiting in May, June, or September. Spring also brings beautiful blooms and mild temperatures, perfect for hiking the coastal trails.

Bogliasco enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm, sunny summers and mild, wet winters. Summer temperatures typically range from 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F), while winters are cooler but rarely freezing, making it a year-round destination for those who enjoy milder weather.
